Introduction to Data Science for Finance
1-Day Course @ CFA San Francisco, Thursday, 29 June 2017
According to a recent Harvard Business Review article , the top one-third of companies that employ data-driven decision making are, on average, 5% more productive and 6% more profitable than their competitors. This finding is statistically significant and is reflected in measurable increases in stock market valuations .
Data science describes the art of extracting insights from data and improves decision-making and boosts product development. Because of the benefits that data science brings to corporations, financial institutions, and startups, it is one of the most prized skill sets today.
CFA Society of San Francisco and Cognitir , a global training company, are organizing a one-day course on 29 June 2017 to teach the essentials of data science with the Python programming language. This course will analyze various finance-related data sets to help finance professionals uncover meaningful insights from data. Cognitir has successfully led training at CFA San Francisco before and is excited to be invited back!
The company also regularly leads training at other CFA societies such as CFA Society of Los Angeles and CFA Society of Washington D.C. and top business schools including: Wharton, London Business School, MIT Sloan, U Chicago Booth School of Business, Columbia Business School, Northwestern Kellogg School of Management, UCLA Anderson, USC Marshall, and NYU Stern.
By the end of this introductory course , participants will have used the Python programming language to analyze real-world finance-related data sets, draw meaningful conclusions from the data, and present their results in a clear and persuasive manner.
Please note that you must have taken an introductory Python programming course before attending this workshop. Cognitir will recommend a free, online Python course to participants, but this online course must be completed before the start of this data science workshop.
COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS: Both PCs and Macs can be used in the course. You will need to download free Python-related software to participate in this course. We will provide you with detailed instructions on how to do this after you sign up. Please note that if you are planning to use a corporate laptop, you may need permission from your IT/tech department to download external software, so please allow enough time for this installation process.
