Leadership Panel - Developing Next Generation Leaders in FinTech
In a dynamic and uncertain economic environment and amidst a changing landscape of customer and societal expectations and technological advancements, we are challenged to develop next generation of leaders. In this highly interactive panel, we have invited industry leaders to share their valuable lessons as to how they develop themselves to adapt during times of disruptions and thrive in a diverse range of situations. There will be a breakout session to provide a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and network with other CFA members and community.

Rose Chen, CFA, CPCC, Founder, VegaLab Ventures
Rose Chen is the founder of VegaLab Ventures, advising strategic investors, corporate ventures and private equity in technology investments and ecosystem development in fintech, health and industrial internet. She serves on the Board for ConnectAItogether (artificial intelligence learning) and Kara (behavioral health). Ms. Chen is also an executive coach/advisor for Stanford Cardinal Ventures and Quantum Insights (biotechnology, artificial intelligence). Previously, Ms. Chen held various leadership, strategic and operational roles at GE digital, Federal Home Loan Bank and IMG/Chase Equity Partners, executing growth strategies in strategic alliances & ecosystem development and facilitating digital transformation initiatives with global partners. Recently, she completed Directors’ College at Stanford Law School. Ms. Chen received her MA in Engineering Economics Systems and Operations Research from Stanford University and was a Fellow at Columbia University's Earth Institute for Sustainable Investing. She is a Certified Coach (CPCC) and a CFA charterholder. Ms. Chen is also a member of the Stanford Women on Board organization and the IDC Strategic Alliances Leadership Council.
Jay Eum, Co-Founder and Managing Director of TransLink Capital
Jay Eum is Co-Founder and Managing Director of TransLink Capital, a Palo Alto-based early stage venture capital firm with strong ties into the leading technology companies in Asia. He focuses on consumer technology and his active investments include Chartboost, Epic, Gamevice, Peel, Penrose, Singular, and SoundHound. Prior to TransLink, Mr. Eum was Managing Director of Samsung Ventures where he established and led the US venture capital operations for Samsung. Over his 18-year career in venture capital, notable exits include Carbonite, DivX, InPhi, Intellon, PayPal, Pure Digital and YuMe. He is also an active angel investor and advisor to several start-ups including Coupang, Korbit, Noom, SoFi and Tapas Media. Additionally, Mr. Eum is an active investor and advisor to several ICOs including Askfm, Bee, ICON, Quantstamp, Refereum and Telegram.
He received an MBA from Stanford University and MS/BS in Chemistry from Seoul National University. Mr. Eum serves as Chairman of the Asia America MultiTechnology Association and as Board Director of the Association of Asian American Investment Managers.
Miguel Luina, Principal, Hamilton Lane
Miguel Luina is a Principal at Hamilton Lane, where he is responsible for due diligence of primary fund investment opportunities. Based in San Francisco, he leads the firm’s efforts in venture, growth and technology investments. Prior to joining Hamilton Lane in 2009, Mr. Luina was an associate at GE Antares, GE Capital’s sponsored middle-market leveraged finance group, where he underwrote, syndicated and managed a portfolio of first lien, second lien and unsecured credits. Previously, he was an analyst in the sponsorship, underwriting and portfolio management group at MCG Capital. Mr. Luina received a BS in Commerce from the University of Virginia.
Emi Yoshikawa, CFA, Sr. Director, Joint Venture Partnerships at Ripple
Emi Yoshikawa is the Sr. Director of Joint Venture Partnerships at Ripple. She is passionate about realizing the Internet of Value through the use of blockchain technologies. At Ripple, Ms. Yoshikawa manages joint venture activities and leads market entry initiatives in Asia. She was selected as a top-50 "Women in Fintech" Influencer by Onalytica in 2017. Earlier in her career, she was a product manager at MSCI, leading the development of the company's flagship equity portfolio analytics solutions, and advised institutional investors on quantitative investment strategies. Ms. Yoshikawa holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and is also a CFA charterholder.
