Networking Workshop: Career and Life Enhancement
Networking evokes responses ranging from high resistance to great enthusiasm and energy. But many people respond somewhere in the middle with a degree of ambivalence. Entire books have been written about approaches to networking (Never Eat Alone: And Other Secrets to Success, One Relationship at a Time by Keith Ferrazzi and Give and Take: A Revolutionary Approach to Success by Adam Grant, Ph.D.) A common frustration people experience is that they expect immediate personal tangible results, which rarely happens. Others don’t know how to approach people in networking, move to the next step or have a clear idea of their goals. Still others feel burned out with nothing to show for their efforts. No wonder people get resistant and cynical. Networking can and should be much more rewarding and satisfying than this. We need to think of networking more as long-term relationship development than transactional sales pitches. There are more effective long-term strategies to build, sustain and cultivate a network in a personally meaningful way. In this 3 ½ hour interactive and engaging workshop we will:
- shed light on the research for effective long-term network development
- utilize voting technology for participant engagement on networking issues and strategies
- consider how the most common investment professional personality type needs to develop
- employ progressive role play to learn how to build personal and purposeful relationships toward common goals
- show how to use LinkedIn in your overall strategy
- help each participant create a personalized plan for networking success
- provide one free phone coaching session with Jim on your personal networking plan
